The USGI
Leather Calfskin Sweatband is a critical internal component designed for
the classic PASGT (Personnel Armor System for Ground Troops) and
compatible military parachutist helmets. Positioned at the front of the
suspension cradle, this premium sweatband performs a vital dual role: it
provides a soft, non-chafing interface against the forehead while effectively
absorbing perspiration to prevent moisture from running into the operator's
eyes during strenuous field operations.
In New
(Unissued) condition, this sweatband features pristine, supple calfskin
leather that has not been compromised by sweat or storage dry-rot. Sized at 1.5
inches wide by 26 inches long, this X-Small band attaches directly
to the helmet’s suspension webbing using built-in metal fold-over clips. It is
a necessary component for a historically accurate restoration, a repair of
vintage tactical armor, or for boosting the wearing comfort of a small-sized
ballistic helmet shell.
