The USGI ACU
Wet Weather Rain Parka (officially designated in military logistics as the Jacket,
Cold/Wet Weather) is an advanced, high-performance environmental barrier
shell engineered explicitly for the United States Army. Developed under the Generation
III Extended Cold Weather Clothing System (ECWCS Level 6), this technical
parka is purpose-built to act as an impenetrable layer against severe
downpours, heavy freezing rain, and high-velocity winter winds.
Constructed
from a premium 3-layer GORE-TEX® laminate (or equivalent authorized
proprietary ePTFE membrane), this parka utilizes a highly specialized textile
architecture. The tightly woven outer fabric completely deflects external
moisture and driving wind. Concurrently, the internal membrane contains billions
of microscopic pores that are small enough to keep liquid water out, but large
enough to allow vaporized body sweat to escape. This prevents the uncomfortable
"greenhouse effect" common in cheap nylon rain gear, keeping the
soldier completely dry, warm, and comfortable during intense field operations.
In Used
military surplus condition, these jackets are 100% field-serviceable and
completely operational. Every parka is thoroughly inspected to ensure the
primary zipper tracks run smoothly, the snaps engage tightly, and the internal
factory seam-tape remains secure. Expect standard cosmetic signs of prior
deployment—such as light fabric scuffs, minor fading of the ACU digital
pattern, or a soldier's name handwritten on the interior tag block. They are
free of major holes, structural tears, or broken hardware.
